Pastor David Thomas is a native Floridian, born in Pensacola. He grew up near Tallahassee and graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Music Education. He taught for five years at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida.
He then became Minister of Music at Carpenter's Home Church in Lakeland, a position he held for twelve years. He and his family moved to Fort Myers to minister at First Assembly in 1989. For 19 years Pastor Thomas served as Music Pastor of First Assembly and is the founder and director of the Annual Christmas Keyboard Festival that is seen by thousands every year.
Among his duties as Senior Assistant Pastor, Pastor Thomas provides oversight over all the ministry of First Assembly of God, working closely with Senior Pastor Dan Betzer. This includes the Central campus as well as all satellite campuses. He also provides oversight over the financial area of the ministry. He also gives vision and direction to the increased emphasis on Prayer Ministry, a dominant focus at all the ministry campuses. Pastor Thomas provides a stable element to the ministry staff of First Assembly bringing his gifts of pastoring, mentoring, and discipling.
He is married to Christine Thomas and they have two daughters, Ashley and Amy.
