History and Philosophy
The Suzuki Method was created after WWII by the Japanese violinist, educator, philosopher, and humanitarian Shinichi Suzuki. He based his approach on the belief that musical ability is not inborn, but but an ability which can be developed when properly trained. Dr. Suzuki believed that the potential of every child is unlimited. Teachers of the Suzuki Method set goals to not simply develop professional musicians, but through the study of music nurture incredible and resilient students through character development. Technical mastery is achieved through repetition, aural aptitude and increased technical development through review repertoire and tone modeling from their instructor.
